Gail Ray
Having started my teaching career in Oxfordshire, I first joined Reading Local Authority as Deputy Headteacher of Caversham Park Primary School in September 2001, where I then became Acting Headteacher in September 2008 and the substantive Headteacher in September 2009. Additional roles and responsibilities that I have fulfilled within the authority during my time as Headteacher have included representation on the SEN Panel, the School Meals Scrutiny Panel and being a member of a Team Around a School, as well as a committee member for the RPHA Leadership Conference.
Caversham Park Primary School is a small, friendly, inclusive school where we believe in preparing children with learning behaviours for life through a creative curriculum.
What the Annual Conference means to me as a School Leader
It’s an oasis in the year when I get the opportunity to take quality time out for personal professional reflection and enjoy well-being time in the company of friends and colleagues.
What this year’s theme means to me
Having the confidence to stand up and rock the boat in order to create a ripple effect of change in a sea of uncertainty.
